Aaah, bijna weekend! 
Mijn sjaal is klaar! Ik ben er zo blij mee en hij valt heerlijk om mijn nek heen...
Het is bijna jammer dat de winter zowat over is... BIJNA

My shawlette is done! I'm so happy with it and I love how it wraps around my neck...

Ook mijn memoborden zijn inmiddels helemaal klaar en zitten op het kastje geschroefd.
Ik word gewoon vrolijk als ik er naar kijk!

My pinboards are also all finished and screwed onto the cabinet.
I get all cheerful when I look at them!

Ik heb een stuk of 10 van de kleine bloemetjes gebruikt die je hierboven ziet en ze zijn heel makkelijk te maken:

Je hebt ongeveer 1,20 meter garen nodig (ik heb haakkatoen gebruikt met een 2,5 mm naald).
Vorm een magische ring of een 'sloppy slip knot' 
Ronde 1:   2 lossen, 10 vasten in de 2e losse vanaf de naald, 1 halve vaste op de eerste vaste. 
Ronde 2:   *In de volgende steek: 1 vaste, 1 stokje, 1 vaste. Volgende steek: 1 halve vaste.* Herhaal van * tot * nog vier keer. (de laatste halve vaste komt op de halve vaste waarmee je de eerste ronde hebt afgesloten.)
Afhechten en de draadjes instoppen. Tadaaa!

I used about 10 of the little flowers you see in the picture above and they are very easy to make (US terms):

You need about 4 feet (1,2 metres) of yarn (I used crochet cotton and a 2,5 mm hook).
Form a magic loop or a 'sloppy slip knot'
Round 1:   chain 2, single crochet 10 times in the second chain from hook, 1 slip stitch on the first single crochet.
Round 2:   *In the next stitch: 1 single crochet, 1 double crochet, 1 single crochet. Next stitch: 1 slip stitch.* Repeat from * to * four more times. (the last slip stitch comes on the slip stitch with which you closed the first round.)
Fasten off and weave in ends. Tadaaa!

WIP Wednesday

En toen was het alweer het midden van de week! Het is hier nu voorjaarsvakantie, dus de kinderen dwarrelen lekker om me heen en ondertussen probeer ik toch nog wat te haken en breien. Gisteren bracht de post dit:

En then it was already the middle of the week. It's mid-term break here, so the kids are tinkering all around me and in the meantime I try to crochet and knit a bit. Then yesterday the mailman brought me this:

Allemaal kleurtjes dikke katoen om nieuwe knuffels mee te haken. En de eerste is alweer op de naald, ik ben namelijk bezig met een giraf! Alle kleine onderdelen zijn al af en ik ben nu bezig met het lichaam.

All pretty colors of thick cotton to crochet new plushies. And the first one is already on my hook, I'm working on a giraffe! I already finished the smaller bodyparts and I am now working on the body.

En natuurlijk ben ik ook nog met mijn sjaal bezig. Ik ben ondertussen al over de helft, dus het schiet lekker op. Ik zat me eerst druk te maken over de verkorte naalden, maar dat was eigenlijk nergens voor nodig. In dit patroon zijn ze super makkelijk, want je hoeft de omslagen niet eens op te pakken. Ik denk omdat de verkorte naalden in een ribbelpatroon zitten, waardoor je de omslagen eigenlijk niet meer ziet. Ik kan haast niet wachten tot ik hem om mijn nek kan leggen...

And of course I'm still working on my shawlette. I'm already past halfway, so I'm coming along very nicely. At first I was worried about the short rows, but that turned out to be completely unnecessary. In this pattern they are super easy, because you don't even have to pick up the wraps. I think because the short rows are in a garter pattern, so you don't really see the wraps any more. I can hardly wait to put this baby on my neck...

WIP Wednesday

Op dit moment op de haaknaald: een eendekuikentje!
Ik heb er al één met wat dikker garen gemaakt, maar deze haak ik van dunne katoen op een 2,5 mm naald en zal dus maar 5 á 6 cm hoog worden.

I already made one in a thicker yarn, but I'm making this one with a thinner cotton on a 2,5 mm hook, so he'll only be about 2 inches.

Ik word op het moment een beetje van het haken afgehouden door wat breiwerkjes. Om te beginnen ben ik nog steeds met mijn sokken bezig. Dat is gewoon een heerlijk projectje voor 's avonds als ik geen zin meer heb om me op een patroon te concentreren. Al wordt dat binnenkort even anders want over een paar centimeter moet ik aan de hiel beginnen. Dat wordt dus wel even goed opletten!

I have a few knitting projects that are kind of keeping me away from crochet. For starters, I'm still working on my socks. It's just a great project to pick up at night when I don't want to bother anymore with focusing on a pattern. Although that is about to change, because in about an inch or so I have to start on the heel. I will have to focus on that!

En dan heb ik nog een nieuw breiwerkje. En hier ben ik zóóó enthousiast over! Vorige week was ik een beetje aan het zoeken naar een leuk breipatroon voor een sjaaltje op Ravelry. Toen zag ik deze en ik was verliefd!:

And then I have a new knitting project. And this one has got me sooo excited! Last week I was browsing Ravelry for a nice knitting pattern for a shawl or scarf. Then I saw this one and I was in love!:

Het patroon was nog niet eens beschikbaar toen ik dit zag, maar ik vond hem zo leuk, ik moest hem gewoon maken! Toen het patroon zondag wel beschikbaar kwam, schrok ik eerst even, er zitten 'short rows' (verkorte naalden) in. Dat had ik nog nooit gedaan! Maar ik kon me ook herinneren dat er op Craftsy een gratis minicursus over is, dus die heb ik eerst maar eens bekeken. (Daarbij kwam ik er achter dat ik het wel al eens met sokken heb gedaan, maar ik had alleen de link niet gelegd.) Daarbij zit er bij die cursus ook een heleboel basisinformatie over breien die erg handig zijn om het Engelse patroon uit te vogelen. (Haken met Engelse patronen, geen probleem! Breien met Engelse patronen, dat is nieuw.) Toen durfde ik het wel aan en ben begonnen. En nu ben ik dus een stukje op weg en ik word zo blij als ik ermee bezig ben! Het patroon is gewoonweg prachtig!

It wasn't even out yet when I first saw it, but I liked it so much that I just HAD to make it! When the pattern become available on Sunday, I was first a little shocked to find out that the pattern had short rows. I never did that before! But I also remembered that Craftsy has a free miniclass about that, so I started by looking at that. (Only to find out that I did use short rows before when making socks, but I just didn't know that that's what it's called.) The class also comes with a lot of basic knitting information that came in very handy to figure out the pattern. (I have no problem to crochet from English patterns, but knitting from English patterns is a whole new thing for me. My knitting vocabulary has been all Dutch untill now.) And then I felt up to the challenge. Now I'm a little bit on the way and it just makes me so happy when I work on it! The pattern is just beautiful!

Wat heb ik op mijn naald? Nu? Op dit moment? ;)
Vandaag werk ik aan een draak! Natuurlijk naar een patroon van FreshStitches en hij is helemaal leuk! Het is een patroon dat je voor een deel zelf invult. Je kiest welke onderdelen je wilt gebruiken en bij sommige onderdelen kun je ook nog kiezen uit verschillende soorten. Ik moet zeggen dat ik ook helemaal blij ben met de kleurtjes die ik heb gekozen; petrol en pistache (Creative Cotton van Rico).

Today I'm working on a dragon! Of course this is a FreshStitches pattern and he's totally fun! This is a pattern that you build yourself. You choose which parts you would like to use and for some parts you can even choose from two options. And I have to say I'm totally happy with the colors I chose; petrol and pistachio (Creative Cotton by Rico).

Dan heb ik ook nog een projectje op de breinaalden. Of eigenlijk op de breinaald, want ik gebruik één rondbreinaald om een paar sokken te breien. Twee sokken tegelijk, want ik ben al niet zo'n ster in het breien van sokken en anders zou ik nóóit een paar compleet krijgen! 

And then I also have a little project on my knitting needles. Or actually on my knitting needle, because I'm using a circular needle to knit a pair of socks. Two socks at the same time, because I'm not really a star at knitting socks and otherwise I would NEVER get to a complete pair!

Dit is een ideaal project om lekker bezig te zijn zonder er al te veel bij na te denken (nou ja, tot ik bij de hiel kom dan). Het mooie sokkengaren is Phildar en de bol moet genoeg zijn voor een heel paar. Ik werk dus vanaf twee kanten van de bol. Met de bol in een zip-lock zakje en het werk op de rondbreinaald is dit ook het perfecte project om mee te nemen. Het neemt nauwelijks plek in, je hebt geen extra gereedschappen nodig en het is bijna onmogelijk om in de war te raken.

This project is perfect to work on without having to think about it much (that is, until I reach the heel). The pretty sockyarn is from Phildar and the ball should be enough for a complete pair. So I'm working from both ends of the ball. With the ball in a ziplock bag and the work on circular needles, this is also the perfect project for on-the-go. It hardly takes up space, you don't need extra tools and it's almost impossible to get tangled up.
